WHAT'S NEW AT CHAMP?

What's new is tempered side and back glass for all of our side glass and most back glass.  What this means to you is stronger, more durable glass.  When your Studebaker was assembled at the factory it had either laminated or tempered glass.  Most cars & trucks prior to the early '50's came with laminated glass and tempered was used along with tempered though the rest of the 1950's.  In recent years, if you needed to replace a piece of side glass, you were limited to laminated glass which was cut & finished to order.  The weakness of laminated is that it cracks more easily, bubbles, delaminates and goes milky with age; this occurs because of the sheet of plastic that is "laminated" between two sheets of thin glass.  This is commonly called "safety glass".  Tempered is subject to none of these problems.  All of our modern-day cars use tempered glass on the sides and rear; windshields remain laminated to prevent us from going "through"  the windshield in an accident and rocks from coming through.  This stronger glass is also easier and less expensive to ship.  Effective immediately we are shipping only tempered side glass and most backs.  We are editing the listings on this web site to reflect this change.  Also, many part numbers will be reduced in price, as our cost is also somewhat reduced.  We have official patterns for every piece of Studebaker glass going back to the late '30s and are in the process of securing earlier patterns.  If you don't find the glass you need listed on this web site, please contact us and we will quote.  This tempered glass is available in clear, tint (green) and grey colors.  We sincerely appreciate your business and promise to continue improving the products we sell, while remaining your most competitive option for Studebaker glass and rubber.

To those thinking of ordering a windshield: 

We know that an investment like this must be made with answers to very important questions.  Unlike our competitors, you will never be charged for extra handling or for the special shipping carton we use, which is designed specially for shipping windshields.  The price you see here is the true final price before shipping charges.  Some windshields can be shipped by UPS for approx. $50. Others must go by freight truck.  CALL US FOR AN EXACT QUOTE.  With energy prices soaring, we are working hard to keep shipping reasonable and have negotiated a special rate with our freight carrier.  With very few exceptions, domestic shipping is $99. when we add the shipping.  If you can negotiate a better rate, please do!  It is our desire to provide everything we sell to you at a fair and affordable price, as we, too, are restoring & preserving Studebakers!
